What should you expect on an adventure like this?

    • Prime Timing: Mid-October is an ideal time for a multi-day camping trip. Steelhead have begun populating the river, and the weather can remain pleasant. October is generally not considered a "cold" month in the Lower Salmon Canyon.

    • Exclusive Experience: With limited spots, assemble a group of 6 to 9 of your closest family, friends, and anglers (split evenly between 3 drift boats). With your group being a private group, you’ll enjoy a personalized fishing adventure.

    • Riverside Privacy & Comfort: Each one of our guests get their own tent & cot, with a premium sleeping pad. We know that a quality night of rest means a great day on the water. We believe that comfort and privacy are important to a quality riverside experience.

    • Gourmet Meals & Dedicated Camp Staff: River guides are known for many things, and cooking is one of them! You won't go hungry on our trips! Enjoy cooked from scratch meals riverside with a personal touch! We employ a dedicated "Gearboater(s)" to move our camp each day. Their boat is a large raft capable of carrying the load a quality camp requires. They work hard to set up the kitchen, tents, dining area, and our riverside home for the evening.

    • The Drift Boat Experience: The intimate experience of floating down the Salmon river in a man-powered drift boat  is nothing short of special. The guide expertly working the oars, seemingly floating over the waves, and putting the lures where they belong is something you have to experience to understand. Drift Boat Steelhead Guides are passionate about their boats and the river.

    • Trip Location: We prefer to do this trip upriver from town and away from the highway. If fishing looks like it will be a better "catching experience" downstream from town, we will likely divert the trip to downriver.

    • 6:00 PM the night before your trip

      • We will be meeting at the Salmon Rapids Lodge for a "Meet & Greet" with the guides. Here you get to ask any last minute questions about your trip.

      • At the meet & greet you will receive your dry bags and/or duffel bags to fill with your camp gear, and have the opportunity to ask any last minute questions, and get the final itinerary for the next 3 days.

    • Day 1

      • You will meet your guides at the Salmon Rapids Lodge. You will leave your vehicles here at their secure parking lot where we have permission to place guest vehicles.

      • Make sure you get a bite to eat before we meet up, we don’t do breakfast on day 1.

      • We will give your loaded dry bags to our gear boaters here, you will not see those dry bags until camp - so make sure that anything you need during the day, which wont be much, is not in these bags!

      • Your guides will drive you from here to the boat ramp where our trip will begin!

      • After a full day of fishing we will arrive at camp, eat great food, tell river stories, and enjoy a beautiful evening on the river.

      • We are generally at camp by 4pm or 5pm each day.

    • Day 2 & 3

      • Each morning will start with coffee & a hearty breakfast. After breakfast you will get your bags packed up & we will head out for another awesome day on the water!

      • After another fun night & morning on the river, we will say goodbye to the gear boaters for the last time. We will head out for our 3rd day of fishing & eventually arrive at the final boat ramp. We’ll load up the drift boats, and head back into Riggins.
